The Florida Department of law enforcement coördinates eight boards, the commissions, and councils. The duties, responsibilities, and procedures of the Florida Department of law enforcement are mandated by the Chapter 943, the Florida statutes and Chapter 11, the Florida administrative code. The head of the Florida Department of law enforcement is a commissioner who normally reports to the Florida cabinet. Florida cabinet is made up of the governor, Attorney General, Chief Financial Officer and Commissioner for agriculture. A commissioner is normally appointed by the governor and the cabinet who is later confirmed by Florida Senate.
